Who We Are

The SAA is the largest and most active angel investor group focused on investing in emerging companies in Eastern Washington, Idaho and Montana.

We consist of over 100 individual and institutional members.

The SAA meets five times per year to review investment presentations
from selected companies.

What We Have Done

Since inception, members of the SAA have invested over $87 million into 84 companies.

Investment Criteria

We invest in people, ideas and markets. We back people that are innovative, tenacious and team players. We like ideas that are revolutionary, proprietary and support a profitable business model. We prefer markets that are rapidly growing, uncluttered and where our companies can emerge as industry leaders.

We invest primarily in companies headquartered in Eastern Washington, Idaho and Montana; but occasionally invest in companies based in adjacent regions.

Our investments are typically structured as preferred stock, common stock or convertible promissory notes. Investment amounts vary widely.

The 25 + 5 represents the 25 fastest growing companies in the region + 5 to watch. The SAA holds an annual ceremony in February to recognize these companies and present awards in several categories.

PROGRAMS

The SAA accelerates startups through a variety of programs designed to stimulate the formation of new companies and events featuring successful entrepreneurs, subject matter experts on topics of interest to emerging companies and angel, venture and private equity investors.
